Celebrating 10 years hosting one of the most kick-ass day parties at SXSW, Rachael Ray’s Feedback Party had lines snaking around 8th and Red River for hours before the start of the event. Fueled by ice-cold beer and cheese-drenched tater tots and brisket, the party kicked off at the appropriately named Queso Stage with the mellow bopping of The Drums followed by Rachael Ray’s boyfriend and his rock band The Cringe over at the main Feedback Stage. Nashville singer/songwriter Margo Price, decked out in jorts and a wide-brimmed hat, brought a laid-back classic country vibe, and was followed by Pennsylvania quartet the Districts with their boot-slapping indie rock.

To the disappointment of some, hip-hop artist and culinary expert Action Bronson’s cancellation provided an opening for the Walkman’s former lead vocalist, Hamilton Leithauser and his collaborator and former Vampire Weekend multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij, who are touring in support of their 2016 album I Had A Dream That You Were Mine. Their mellow strummy tunes sounded good, but they didn’t do much to perk up the people in the crowd who were at least a six-pack deep in tall boys.

Teeing up the headliner were hip-hop legends De La Soul who got the crowd moving their hands in the air under Pos, Dave, and Maseo’s commands. Slinging hits after hit such as “Me, Myself, & I,” the group instantly energized the flagging crowd, even having the photographers in the pit drop their cameras and join the crowd with hands up to the sky.

Closing out the steamy Austin afternoon was Weezer. At that point the crowd was so lit, that their set turned into a “hug your neighbor and sing along” type experience. Nostalgia reigned supreme at Rachael Ray’s 10th anniversary day party, and she showed that despite the evolution of SXSW, her party is not to be missed.
