Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order is currently writing a memoir. The book, to be titled Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, Hook recounts his days with the Manchester band during their brief, four-year existence.

“I’m sick of everyone reading books about Joy Division by people who weren’t there and weren’t even close to us at all,” he says. “There were a lot of things that were wrong, in those books, as well as annoying.”
Hook also explains his personal motivations, saying, “I’m hoping that the Joy Division book will maybe give me an understanding of why Ian [Curtis] … killed himself.”
Unknown Pleasures will be released on October 1, 2012 via Simon and Schuster. (via CoS)
