DIECAST – Internal Revolution

reviewed by Jenny Carter | Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

diecast_internalrevolutionOn their fourth CD, the Boston based metalcore band Diecast has another new lineup, including drummer Dennis Pavla and bassist Brad Horion. Entirely, I find Internal Revolution to be cookie-cutter metalcore. I do think Diecast has a lot of potential because the musicianship is there and the vocals are just as impressive. I think this is just another case of trying to appeal to the youth of today (who dominate this genre’s fan base) with something familiar and safe. There’s every classic modern element of metalcore: the chugga chugga, the super fast to slow and melodic switch-out, the emo vocals paired with earth shattering screams. I’m not impressed by paint-by-numbers metal. Diecast is just not breaking any ground here. This is simply every popular metalcore album that’s out right now.
