Attendees of Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender, tired from last night’s Tournament of Tease and subsequent after-party, were still ready for more on Sunday, the final night of performances. This night was the evening where previous winners get to strut their stuff, and folks who have done a lot for the burlesque community are honored during the “Sassy Lassy Awards.”

El Vez and Fannie Spankings were the hosts for the evening. El Vez started the performances in grand style in an intro with a motorcycle and lots of dancers. The first performer of the night, Koko La Douce, then came out and did a really unique balloon act. I took the most glittery photo I think I have ever shot when she popped an enormous balloon full of glitter. There was so much glitter that it completely obscured her frame in the image as she did a quick change from a nude-illusion bustier to a colorful ballgown!
Next up, married couple Trixie Little & the Evil Hate Monkey did one of their signature performances. There was a lot of allusions to cunnilingus up in there. Pretty sexy! Kristina Nekyia of Los Angeles followed, covered in roses, displaying some fancy footwork. Then Dusty Summers, The Naked Magician, did a few card tricks for us. Oddly enough, she did not get naked. Captain Kidd was next with a crazy hula-hoop number. There was then a break in performances to present a Sassie Lassy Award to Torchy Taboo, a burlesque performer and promoter. Torchy also performed later in the evening.
I was extremely excited to get to see the next performer, Michelle L’amour, do her thing. She did her “Ritual Calling of the Gods of Fuck” act, and it was super intense and sexy. What a performer! She’s so sultry, so gorgeous. I think she had the most powerful stage presence of all of the performers that weekend.

Then Foxy Tann & the Wham-Bam Thank You Ma’ams did a fabulous, smoky, weed-centric performance. Foxy actually rapped most of Cypress Hill’s “Hits From the Bong” as she danced! It was totally awesome. The crowd wasn’t as into it as I thought they’d be, they didn’t “Woo!” at the right points during the song. The troupe should come to the state of Washington and do a show in July after legalization hits! I’d be there in a heartbeat. After them, Tigger! gave a hilarious performance to Stereo Total’s “I Am Naked”. He had a g-string on that had a stuffed penis on it. He mimed his way through traditional burlesque moves, pretending to remove gloves and stockings. El Vez even came out to help him remove his imaginary corset. The Dolls of Doom followed with a really innovative act utilizing lighted costumes and tubes…it’s hard to explain but it was really great. After the Dolls’ performance there was a break to give away another Sassy Lassy award, this time to Vivienne VaVoom, another burlesque performer and promoter.
Next up was Stephanie Blake, Miss Exotic World 1997 and 1998. Damn! She’s flexible for someone who won the title a decade and a half ago! Her performance was gorgeous and sexy. Next up was Perle Noire, who we last saw on Friday when she gave the Living Legend Award to Toni Elling. Noire dedicated her act to Elling, and it was a beautiful, glamorous, classic burlesque performance.
Jett Adore and April March then came out in huge feathered costumes. They were there to honor Grant Philipo, costume designer, producer, and ex-burlesque performer, with a Sassy Lassy award. He’s a behind-the-scenes legend in Las Vegas and Hollywood and his list of achievements was staggering. Philipo gave an emotional acceptance speech. He fought back tears as he described how when you transition from performer to producer and designer a part of you dies. Getting recognition from the community not only for his performing, but for his work in the subsequent decades was a great moment for him.
The evening was rounded out with performances by Ruby Joule, Torchy Taboo, and the Stage Door Johnnies.
