The second night of Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender was a special night: the Titans of Tease Reunion Showcase, or “Legends Showcase” for short. The stars of the show are “vintage vixens,” legends of striptease who made history and paved the way for the modern burlesque revival. There’s also a “Walk of Fame,” where stars who aren’t performing grace the stage with their presence.

Going in, I wasn’t sure what the show would be like. I’m sure that there were other attendees who felt the same way, as there were a number of empty seats in the normally jam-packed showroom. The World Famous *BOB* was hosting (wearing the sparkliest dress I have ever seen), and she asked, “How many of you are competing tomorrow [in the Tournament of Tease]?” Only a small roar came from the crowd. *BOB* was not pleased. She went on a rant, shaming individuals that didn’t come to honor the amazing legends of their art form. “I’m not gonna come seeyou perform in 50 years, then!”

When all was said and done, *BOB* was 100 percent right. The legendary ladies that performed had tons of charisma, beautiful costumes, and they’re all in better shape in their 50s, 60s, and 70s than I am in my 30s! The crowed hooted and hollered, cheering on the stars, giving many performers standing ovations. An especially enthusiastic ovation was given to Toni Elling, who was awarded the 2014 Living Legend Award. Perle Noire presented the award, delivering a moving speech, discussing Elling’s career and how she refused to do traditional “savage girl” acts, choosing instead to be true to herself by being a fabulously glamorous siren.

As well as several performances by classic stars, there were a couple of tributes. Harvest Moon did a performance in honor of fallen legend Haji who passed away on August 9, 2013 at age 67, and El Vez led a grand tribute to Dixie Evans, who also died in early August 2013.
