BRUTAL TRUTH – Walking Corpse 2112

Walking Corpse 2112This EP has dropped while the worthwhile hype of Brutal Truth’s End Time full-length is still causing grind fans to pee themselves just a little bit. It’s pure, unrelenting, punishing, intricately crazed grind in the style that Brutal Truth does oh so well.

This digital-only EP consists of re-recordings of two tracks that have been previously released in the band’s recordings history. The track “Walking Corpse” was on their debut full-length Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses back in 1992, and the track “You Should Know Better” was on the This Comp Kills Fascists compilation back in ’08. The Decibel magazine series “Flexi Series” also saw these Brutal Truth tunes released.

The re-recordings sound a pinch more solid and fuller than the preceding versions. Instruments, throats, drums and all have a deeper, richer sound, and that adds to the overall malevolence of the tunes, making them work a bit more — more bad-assed blast beats, more bad-assed guitar crush, more bad-assed bass thunderings, more vocal shredding.

This is the perfect gift for the grind newbie or for some youngin’ who is looking for something more technical, heavier, insane, and better than what is passed off as “metal” or “whatever-core” these days.
