Epitonic Relaunches Tomorrow

Monday, March 7th, 2011

On the 12th anniversary of the original site launch, Epitonic.com is relaunching Tuesday, March 8th. Original co-founder Justin Sinkovich is at the helm following a successful Kickstarter campaign and a frenzy of development.

To commemorate the launch, 12 bands are premiering new music exclusively at Epitonic, including The Wrens, Marissa Nadler, Bloodiest, STRFKR, Withered Hand, and Restorations.

At its height, Epitonic had over 500,000 unique monthly visitors, a Wired “Best Music Site” nomination, and a Webby Award. Eventually, the site fell upon hard times, and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell and Palm Pictures intervened in 2001 to save the site, but it eventually went dormant in 2004.

In the spring of 2010, original site co-founder Justin Sinkovich reacquired Epitonic, and contacted the site’s original team, who were all excited to pitch in. He also recruited a team of new editors and contributors to help with the new site. Following a successful pledge drive on Kickstarter, the site is set to relaunch on the anniversary of the original launch.
