Weird Science

Deadline reports that Silver Pictures and Universal are teaming together for a remake of Weird Science, the 1985 sci-fi comedy about two nerds who create their own idealized woman. Written and directed by John Hughes, the original starred Anthony Michael Hall, Robert Downey, Jr., Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Bill Paxton, and Kelly LeBrock.

The remake will be written by Michael Bacall, who scripted last year’s Project X for Silver Pictures and also wrote the script for the hit film 21 Jump Street, based on the ‘80s TV show of the same name. According to the article, the film will “attempt to carve out its own identity by being redrawn as an edgier R-rated comedy in line with 21 Jump Street and The Hangover.” (via Paste)
