WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS – In the Pit of the Stomach

Here is just another reason to love Scotland and all things Scottish. We Were Promised Jetpacks is back with their second full-length album and it is another powerhouse of hard riffs, pulsing bass lines, and driving percussion.

These 10 tracks collide into a more mature and well-defined collection of talents and feelings. There are moments of distance when Adam Thompson’s vocals seem lost in a haze of adrenaline and moments of intense power when his lyrics collide with intricate and pounding harmonies. The album is the on edge and anxious feeling of being lost inside one’s self. “Medicine” looks at the years gone by and moments wasted, while “Circles and Squares” is an explosion of life revelations. “Act on Impulse” and “Sore Thumb” let Thompson’s vocals shine, and all 10 tracks put on display the abundant passion that resides within these fine musicians.

WWPJ does not disappoint on their latest endeavor. There is no pretense here; no attempts at impressing. These blokes are simply playing the music they love; the music that matters to them.
