Wayne Coyne

Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips recently shut down Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers Airport last week. How? By bringing a fake (or, at least, defused) grenade into the airport in his luggage.

According to The Lost Ogle (via Diffuser), Coyne’s bag was seized and searched by security officials when the grenade was found inside – causing the entire airport to be shut down. The Lost Ogle interviewed an affected traveler, who snapped pics of a shoeless Coyne and his wife with TSA officers. The traveler was forced to spend $1,000 on new plane tickets and stated that “they quarantined the entire airport.”

According to Oklahoma City police report, the Coyne “was given [the grenade] at a party in Arkansas on November 4, 2012. He advised it was a grenade but said it was dead and was painted.” A bomb unit further conferred that Coyne’s toy was a dud. He was then released and cleared to go.

“Sorry Sorry Sorry!! Everyone that was inconvenienced because of my grenade at OKC airport!!” tweeted Coyne.

Ha ha ha! It’s okay Wayne! You’re so quirky and funny!
