Via TwentyFourBit comes the news that Michael Stipe of REM will be producing a new documentary on the life and death of his longtime friend and fellow Athens resident Vic Chesnutt. Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto, members of Thee Silver Mt. Zion, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, and more are set to appear in the documentary.

You can view a clip from the documentary below, which documents one of Chesnutt’s last concerts in November 2009, filmed a month before he died on Christmas day.
