I’m not even sure that the messed-up mind of Phil Spector could envision this. Violet Vector and the Lovely Lovelies take the best of the ‘60s girl group sound, cross it up with psychedelic grooves, and throw in a pinch of dirty garage rock guitars. It’s a strange conglomeration of sounds that somehow flow together in a beautiful jangle-pop way. This five-song EP comes up with some of the most unique music anyone would ever want to hear. From the unbridled psychedelic rock of “Grass is Growing,” to the girl-pop “Applesweet,” down to the gritty “Sunshine in Space,” the whole EP is a fun listen and never gets old. It is indeed a piece of auditory sunshine that is truly worth buying.
