Beneath This Mask Another MaskOriginally published in Verbicide issue #5

Upon first listen, Providence, Rhode Island duo V for Vendetta is most appropriately dubbed “math rock,” and upon first glance at their CD liner and press release, it is obvious that they fully endorse said dubbing in question. I don’t care what you call it, I find it to be intriguing simply for the wonderful creativity of a pair of musicians experimenting with different instrument combinations: drums and guitar, drums and bass, and so on and on. The occasional vox are beautiful and melodic, secretly powerful. You know what I would love to see? A tour, featuring Diastemata, Suran Song in Stag, and V for Vendetta. Just a suggestion.
