Twenty years after its summer 1993 release, the director and cast and production members of the cult classic film The Sandlot gathered in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah, at the site of the film’s titular “sandlot” baseball field for a weekend of festivities.
Actors Chauncey Leopardi (Michael “Squints” Palledorous), Patrick Renna (Hamilton “Ham” Porter), Marty York (Alan “Yeah-Yeah” McClennan), Victor DiMattia (Timmy Timmons), Shane Obedzinski (Tommy “Repeat” Timmons), Daniel Zacapa (the police chief — you know, the guy who mouths “For-e-ver), and director/co-writer David Mickey Evans were among 1,500 people who showed up to screen the film and participate in events that included a baseball clinic and games for area youth (hosted by AAA players from the Salt Lake Bees) and a dedication of the restored field.
