THE REBEL SPELL – Days Of Rage

rebelspell_daysofrageHow can you synthesize your political agenda into one minute and 50 seconds? Oh yeah, by using only three chords and screaming incoherent lyrics. Ah, punk music…Canadian rockers The Rebel Spell’s new mp3-only album, Days Of Rage, sounds like watered down Dropkick Murphys. Still, the music is danceable if you’ve got a bellyful of Irish whiskey — and then maybe you won’t notice every song sounds exactly the same. They do get gold stars for having a female drummer, though. The Rebel Spell aims to pawn itself off as a member of the anarcho-punk league, but it’s a weak attempt. I read all of their lyrics and all I learned was: It sucks to work in a factory, some people are ignorant, and sometimes they lie about things. Stick to listening to the Dead Kennedys. They did this shtick better.
