The Pogues are Not Disbanding

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Despite the various reports that The Pogues would be breaking up after their forthcoming “Farewell Christmas Tour,” Paul Chevron has posted to The Pogues’ official message board that the claims are a “marketing ploy” — and he wants no part of it: “This claim does not come from me and I will neither be supporting it nor discussing it.”

Shortly thereafter, Spider Stacy responded:

This is the last Christmas tour for the foreseeable future. That’s not to say we won’t be showing up at festivals here and there or maybe even the odd gig around the UK and Ireland and certainly in Europe.

Slight bickering followed as Chevron and Stacy exchanged opinion in a testy manner. Chevron added, “As you can see, opinion is not uniform on the matter.” Spider finished the exchange by addressing fans, who were becoming concerned that the band might now be disintegrating before their eyes: “Don’t get yer kecks in a twist… And sorry to disappoint but there’s absolutely no internal arguments going on, spirits are high in the Pogues camp.”

Here are the tour dates for the last/not last Pogues tour:
