Yeah, Britney Spears is an easy target. But with all the antics that come with being an international pop star, it’s easy to forget that Britney has also been at the forefront of many formative pop culture moments. Now that her new album Femme Fatale has dropped, it’s time to take a look back. Below are a few examples.

MTV Video Music Awards 2009:

Kanye West infamously interrupts Taylor Swift while she accepts Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards, claiming that Beyoncé deserves a Britney Spears for creating the greatest music video of all time.  This moment was so shocking that it trumped a debacle at the 2008 VMAs when Britney was forced to accept herself for winning Video of the Year.

2008 Presidential Election:

In a historical night, Britney wins Barack Obama the United States presidency but steps down from her position as Education Czar when it is discovered that she has no idea what is going on at all.

The Oprah Winfrey Show:

In an act of bravery, Britney Spears shaves her head (for battle) and acts as a human shield, protecting Oprah from a violently manic Tom Cruise. Thankfully, the only fatalities were that of the careers of Britney Spears and Tom Cruise.
