THE LAWRENCE ARMS – Buttsweat and Tears

Buttsweat and TearsEvery couple months or so, a band releases a record that makes me overjoyed that I listen to punk rock in all of its glorious forms. The Lawrence Arms has released something so great that I’m smiling until my cheeks hurt. At times like this, I consider believing in a higher being because I need someone to thank for providing me with musical excellence. Instead, I will like to thank the boys of Lawrence Arms for giving their patient fans some new material to chew on, I would like to thank the people who helped in its recording and release, and I would like to thank the editor for once again thinking of me.

I think I’ve talked too much about how incredible this record is, without explaining why it is. When a band invests themselves completely into their music, the product is guaranteed to sound phenomenal. And what’s not to like about it? Bluesy drunken poetry sung over flawless rhythm and breath-taking guitar-playing. Do yourself a favor — order the seven-inch online (or buy it on iTunes if you don’t have a record player), put it on repeat, and listen to these four songs (five songs if you download it) until they replace those Bible verses you’ve wasted half your life memorizing. Punk rock is your new religion.
