This one is not quite on par with Color Classics. Vol. 1 — some of the collected issues here are poorly written and downright stupid (The Lord Simultaneous/Renet/Cerebus story is almost unreadable). But, overall, this is still a really fun collection.

It is especially enjoyable to read these old comics to see how much was used in the original 1990 film; in this collection, you can read the storyline of how April’s apartment building and father’s antique shop burns down, as well as the subsequent trip to the farmhouse in the country. In the original comic, the farmhouse belonged to the grandparents of Casey Jones (not April) and is located in Northampton, Massachusetts. Pretty interesting to see sights familiar to me (Mt. Tom, UMass, what I imagine is Mill River) referenced in a 35-year-old TMNT comic.

Looking forward to Vol. 3.
