Nirvana

According to the Guardian, the surviving members of Nirvana will perform together on stage tonight at Madison Square Garden as part of the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert. Fronting the band in lieu of Kurt Cobain will be Paul McCartney.

The Guardian adds that Grohl recently invited McCartney to come “jam with some mates,” Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear, who was a member of Nirvana during their last six months. McCartney explains, “I didn’t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?’ And somebody whispered to me ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”

It is not known what the setlist will entail, but Paul McCartney plans to unveil a new song with the Nirvana crew.

The Rolling Stones, Jon Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Kanye West will also play at the concert for victims of Superstorm Sandy at Madison Square Garden in New York.
