If you could amplify a shoulder shrug, you’d hear Peninsula by Statistics. The latest release from the solo project of Denver Dalley, guitarist from the post-hardcore band Desaparecidos, is probably the mildest album of all time. The instrumentation isn’t too intricate or too simple, Dalley’s singing style is generic indie, and the lyrical content is a heaping pile of “meh.”
One thing I appreciated about the album, however, was Dalley’s take on the styles of various artists. For example, “Take the Lead” is his attempt at Maroon 5, “Menu Screen” is very Beach House-esque, and “Waiting” is a try at Neon Indian.

Dalley is a great guitarist who creates stand-out riffs in Desaparecidos — I wish he had brought more of his post-hardcore elements into Peninsula.
