Despite being perhaps one of the funniest (and strangest) comedians of the past two decades, Norm MacDonald’s humor rarely translates into television palatable for mass consumption (see: “Norm“; “A Minute With Stan Hooper“). Comedy Central, however, will be giving MacDonald a chance with his new show — the network has ordered eight episodes of “Sports Show With Norm MacDonald,” which will debut tomorrow, April 12th, at 10:30 PM.
Collider.com reports that the show will be “a satirical news shows that will allow the “Saturday Night Live alum” and former “Weekend Update” host to offer his comedic take on the topical and timely stories from the wide world of sports. Unlike [The Onion’s] “SportsDome,” the series will be taped in front of a live studio audience, and will deal with actual sports news stories (both popular and obscure) rather than making them up.”
