The Simpsons pay tribute to Marcia Wallace, voice of Edna Krabappel

As reported, Marcia Wallace, voice of Edna Krabappel on “The Simpsons,” died on October 26, 2013 at the age of 70. Last night, during the latest episode of the show, “The Simpsons” paid tribute to Ms. K by dedicating the chalkboard gag in Wallace’s memory, and posting a screenshot of Krabappel in memory of Wallace.

A month ago, in early October, show producer Al Jean said that during the show’s 25th season a major character would be killed off, indicating that the voice actor who provided the role had won an Emmy. Though Wallace had won an Emmy for her voice work, “The Simpsons” insist it was not Edna Krabappel who they had planned to kill. According to TMZ, a storyline had been in the works based on her newly-wedded life with Ned Flanders.

Jean stated that Edna’s character will more than likely be retired this season — but it’s too early to say how she’ll go away. “Marcia was such a sweet and talented woman…she will be missed,” he added.
