Obviously the undisputed heavyweight of the Facedown label, Seventh Star are back with more apocalyptic hardcore to keep you in the pit until the Second Coming. As if Brood Of Vipers wasn’t hard or heavy enough for you, The Undisputed Truth continues the crusade for Christ where BOV left off. Lyrically, this album is complex and more thought provoking than your average “stronger than all” hardcore disc; a read over their lyric sheet shows a maturity from album to album. I was genuinely surprised when I was reading it, because hardcore lyrics, taken on their own away from the music, are generally pretty hilarious and sophomoric at best. I think that because the band has deep, real roots in their Christian faith, they generate lyrics that both reflects their belief system while at the same time doesn’t alienate listeners who might otherwise be turned off by a so-called “Christian band.” After all, aren’t the quests for truth, justice, and personal integrity the value system hardcore bands claim to espouse? Seventh Star stick to their theme of trying to find viable answers and purpose in their lives through their music. This disc is heavy and will appeal to metalheads and hardcore kooks alike. I highly suggest you check these guys out, past and present.
