Cleveland, Ohio’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is set to open a brand new exhibit this spring to “illustrate the important roles women have played in rock and roll” past and present.
As noted by Spinner, the exhibit, entitled “Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power,” will encompass two floors and take visitors through a century of female musicians.

The exhibit follows a timeline covering eight eras of rock ‘n roll, beginning with “Suffragettes to Juke-Joint Mamas : The Foremothers / Roots of Rock,” spotlighting 1920s-era artists such as blues performers Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith.The exhibit wraps up with the final era gallery, “Ladies First: The ‘90s and the New Millennium,” highlights artists ranging from Bikini Kill, to Lady Gaga, to the women of Lilith Fair.
Along the way, visitors will be treated to interactive displays highlighting artists such as the Shangri-Las, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Joan Jett, Tina Turner, Yoko Ono, Siouxsie Sioux, Debbie Harry, and Madonna.
