The court date for Pussy Riot‘s appeal has been pushed back to October 10, 2012, “The Guardian” reports. The hearing, originally scheduled for October 1st in in a Moscow court, was delayed following jailed band member Yekaterina Samutsevich’s dismissal of their lawyer Violetta Volkova. As they search for a replacement, two Pussy Riot lawyers remain — one of whom, Nikolai Polozov, speculates that Volkova was dismissed for the purpose of delaying the hearing, according to The Guardian.

Pussy Riot were arrested in March and sentenced to two years in prison for “hooliganism incited by religious hatred.” Recently, the Russian prime minister called for Pussy Riot to be freed. (via P4k)
