FLAG capped off a great holiday weekend at Punk Rock Bowling 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Featuring four former members of Black Flag — Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena, and Bill Stevenson — along with Descendents guitarist Stephen Egerton, the quintet ripped through a blistering set. Morris and Cadena traded off lead vocal duties on an array of tracks pulled almost exclusively from the band’s 1978 through 1981 output. However, they played two tracks from 1984’s My War — the title track and “I Love You” (during the two-song encore) — which were written by Dukowski, yet performed by Greg Ginn on the album, as he had dismissed Dukowski from the band prior to recording.

The Duke, who thrashed around the stage, truly looked like a man who’d anxiously waited three decades to play the songs for a crowd with his Black Flag cohorts, while Morris sounded better than his 1978 counterpart on the Nervous Breakdown EP. Cadena pushed his throat to its limit, and Stevenson and Egerton displayed the same precision that they’ve provided for 26 years together in the Descendents. A fitting end to a trio of days packed with classic punk rock.

Shahab Zargari was up front and caught it all, as well as some pics of DRI and Subhumans.
