PUNCHING MOSES – Impending Doom

Punching Moses "Impending Doom"Cleveland-based Punching Moses mix punk and metal to great effect on their record Impending Doom. They basically boil down metal to a bunch of killer riffs and then play it with a sense of punk rock urgency, attitude, and grit. In a way, it’s crossover music — but instead of just merging rote hardcore with metal, they mix the dirtier side of both to create their version of this hybrid form of music. It’s wonderfully filthy and full of rage.

Opening track “Revenge” features a nice and sleazy riff played furiously, as well as some gang choruses. “I Hate These People” breaks into a fast gallop and comes complete with a ripping solo. “The Night Is Forever” and “Rage On The Road” show the band getting their Motorhead on, while the appropriately titled “Outro (Can’t Take It Anymore)” ends the album with a killer instrumental jam.

Over the course of these 14 tracks, Punching Moses prove two things: they can rock very hard, and there is no lack of killer metal-tinged punk rock bands coming out of their hometown.
