Poly Styrene (X-Ray Spex) to Release “Generation Indigo”

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Exciting news: after years of laying low, punk rock icon Poly Styrene — formerly of Britain’s X-Ray Spex — will be releasing a solo album in 2011. The unforgettable frontwoman announced her return to the music scene by releasing a free download of alternative festive anthem “Black Christmas” in December of 2010, but will be releasing a full-length album entitled Generation Indigo on April 26 via Future Noise Music. According to Girlie Action Media:

“The forward looking Generation Indigo showcases Poly’s humorous musings on pop culture, the internet and fashion whilst also tackling heavier subject matter (war and racism) with her politically aware and intelligent lyrics.”

Below is a brand new video for Poly Styrene’s lead single from Generation Indigo, “Virtual Boyfriend.” Below that is a video for “Identity” from the classic 1978 X-Ray Spex album Germ Free Adolescents.
