
In late June, the Pixies released a new single, “Bagboy,” and then announced that Kim Shattuck has replaced bassist Kim Deal. Now, the latest development in the new era of the band is the release of EP-1, a four-song album available as a digital download for $4 (or for $36 if you want to shell out for limited-edition vinyl).

According to the New York Times, the EP is the first in a series that the band plans to release in lieu of a full album. Recorded in Wales, the new material will trickle out over the next 15 months in a series of “mini-releases.”
