Pixies Bring On Paz Lenchantin of A Perfect Circle as New Touring Bassist

Paz Lenchantin

This past summer, the Pixies announced that longtime bassist Kim Deal would be departing the band, and then promptly announced her replacement as Kim Shattuck of The Muffs.

Her tenure in the band would be short-lived, however, as she lasted through only one tour — Shattuck was fired from the Pixies in late November.

But the revolving door continues to revolve for women bass players with three-letter first names, as the Pixies have now announced that Paz Lenchantin, who previously played bass as a member of A Perfect Circle and Billy Corgan’s Zwan, will step in as the new touring bassist for 2014. Lenchantin has also contributed to records by Queens of the Stone Age, Silver Jews, Brightblack Morning Light, Melissa Auf der Maur, Jenny Lewis, and the Entrance Band, among others.

“We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates,” Pixies drummer David Lovering said of Lenchantin in a statement. “Working with different bass players is very new for the band, but we’re having a great time doing it.”
