The Pinx

The Pinx‘ forthcoming LP, Freedom, is a stark culmination of the attitude and creativity that come with five years of touring, burning up the highways of American South. Brimming with fist-pumping anthems, Freedom is an authentic nod to classic American rock ‘n roll. New single “Rock All Night” is a catchy, stadium-ready anthem that breathes life into the ethos of ’70s legends like AC/DC and KISS, and also invokes one of The Pinx’ main inspirations, Detroit garage godfathers the MC5.

“I was at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta opening for a sold-out Ben Harper crowd, and my future wife heckled me,” says The Pinx front man Adam McIntyre, in regards to “Rock All Night.” “It was ‘THE KIDS WANT THE HITS!’ We’d never met, but I saw her before the show and I knew it was her when she shouted it. I smiled and made sure that I delivered the rest of the set with twice the energy I’d given it before. It made a difference. What makes more difference than energy is the song you’re putting energy into, though, and that began to change the day I met her. After a decade in Nashville, I’d been unhealthily obsessed with ‘the song’ and wanted to cleanse my palate. I did that on the first Pinx record. Starting with ‘Southern Tracks,’ I started really trying to write a good rock and roll song again, with those words ‘the kids want the hits’ ringing in my head… I take it to mean, ‘Give the audience something they can sink their teeth into.’ She jump-started me on the path to shedding my issues and trying to grow up finally, and the ‘mama’ in this song is definitely her.”

Freedom will be released May 20, 2016.
