House of Thee Unholy is a burlesque show that’s part rock show…or maybe it’s a rock show that’s part burlesque show? Either way, the recent performance at Seattle’s Triple Door was great.

The show is put together by artistic director Paula Now, and the theme is the decadence of the early 1970s — there’s an emphasis on sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The cast of the 2014 production included Lily Verlaine, Waxie Moon, Indigo Blue, Mimi Me, and Paris Original (have you seen Paris and the rest of his boylesque troupe Mod Carousel in this “Blurred Lines” Parody?). They put on an artistic, sexy, professional show — a little slice of Vegas or Broadway in the Pacific Northwest. The entire soundtrack was provided by the House of Thee Unholy band, and they played ’70s rock the way it should be played: loudly!

Many of the dancers in the production will be performing at the Moisture Festival in Seattle in March, as well as the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in June, (Verbicide will be in Vegas covering the Hall of Fame weekend!), and House of Thee Unholy will be having another run in March 2015 — you can sign up for their mailing list to get updates.
