Paul Stanley, guitarist and vocalist of KISS, underwent surgery for “recurring vocal cord issues” Tuesday. His doctors say he will make a “swift and complete” recovery.

“I hold myself to a higher standard than others do,” Stanley said. “With that in mind, I wanted to remedy a few minor issues that come with 40 years of preaching rock ‘n’ roll.”

With four decades under their belt, KISS continues to tour and record — the band will release their 20th studio album, Monster, in 2012 and will embark on a world tour.
