Nintendo, the first major company to announce its transition into eighth generation video game consoles with the Wii in 2006, is now the first to announce the conclusion to its seventh generation machine.
Nintendo plans to cease production of the Wii in Japan “soon,” according to their website. In 2012, Nintendo released its successor, the Wii U, a backward-compatible system that allows gamers to play older Wii titles. (via Paste)
