Pussy Riot members after being attacked with paint in a Russian McDonald's restaurant

On the morning of March 6, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina of Pussy Riot were confronted by a group of men while in a McDonald’s restaurant in the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The men poured garbage and green paint on them while shouting at them. The caption on YouTube says that pepper spray was also used. The Guardian reports that the men told them to “[Go] to America.” While being sprayed with paint, Tolokonnikova said, “It hurts! Why are you doing this? You don’t have the right to hurt me. Please don’t do that to anyone anymore.” Video is below:

Alyokhina said she suffered head injuries while Tolokonnikova incurred chemical burns. The pair were apparently on their way to the prison where Alyokhina served her term. Police have said they are looking into the incident, while Tolokonnikova has blamed local authorities for the attack.

Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were released from prison in late 2013, but since have been arrested in Sochi and whipped by Cossacks.
