West Coast veteran rhyme-slayer Murs, Bad Brains founding member Darryl Jenifer, and Ego Trip co-creator Sacha Jenkins have teamed up to form The White Mandingos. The band has announced the release of their debut full-length, The Ghetto is Tryna Kill Me, on June 11, 2013 through Fat Beats.

The album is a concept record told from the perspective of Tyrone White, a rock band frontman from Harlem’s Polo Grounds housing project, and Jenifer and Jenkins production style blurs the boundaries separating hip-hop, hardcore punk, metal, and R&B.

“This band came together the way Henry Rollins-era Black Flag came together, only Murs is from the West Coast and me and Darryl are from the East Coast,” Jenkins tells Rolling Stone. “Being that we all hail from different parts of the country, we’re definitely in a great position to talk how the ghetto might be trying to kill us.”
