Morel – Shoegazer Disco (Roberto Rodriquez Vox Edit)

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Multi-talented producer, singer/songwriter and DJ, Richard Morel (aka Morel) returns with his explosive new single “Shoegazer Disco” (The Remixes): the first in a series of remix packages highlighting stand-out tracks from his acclaimed third studio album Death Of The Paper Boy (issued on his own Outsider Music imprint). The blistering set features dynamic reconstructions from electronic pop heavyweight Linus Loves, Finnish tech-house maestro Roberto Rodriguez,  and newcomer Fuzz Mono.

Morel is best known for his collaborations with Grammy Award winning house music pioneers Deep Dish (“Stranded,” “Mohammed is Jesus,” and “Sacramento”) from their seminal debut Junk Science and George Is On, and for his seismic club hits “True (The Faggot Is You),” “Cabaret,” and “Under A Disco.”

Renowned for his signature, deep and progressive, electronic dance-rock sound, he’s become an in-demand singer/songwriter, producer, collaborator, and remixer (working under his Pink Noise alias) crafting anthems for an impressive list of artists including Cyndi Lauper, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Depeche Mode, Yoko Ono, and The Killers.

As a DJ, Morel is one half of BLOWOFF (alongside partner/seminal US punk icon Bob Mould of Husker Du and Sugar). The pair’s bi-monthly ‘Blowoff” residency at Washington DC’s legendary 930 Club has become one of the city’s most celebrated club nights (where capacity crowds are treated to a blistering soundtrack melding sleazy disco, dark progressive house, post-punk classics and voracious synth-pop nuggets) earning them equally successful residencies in New York City and San Francisco.
