MONOGAMY PARTY – Pus City

Pus CityThese Seattle, Washington-based reprobates have unleashed one loud, noisy, ugly and bad attitude laden salvo. Sometimes it just feels right to turn up the volume and distortion, holler your head off, and hit the drums like they owe you some money. In the case of the guitar-less trio of Monogamy Party, it works wonders and establishes them as new voice in the new noise rock movement that is currently taking place. This is one primal slab of sonic abuse.

“Never To Rise” sets the template with grinding, distorted bass lines by Yos-Wa, vocalist Kennedy’s acerbic rants, and drummer Keith’s messed up thumping. From there, they engage in some bass and drum, anti-funk that gives way to manic craziness on “Drunk Or Dying,” add some muso style mood to “Covenant Of Brothers,” and just go bug-eyed nuts on the awesomely titled “Fucking Your Brains Out.” The title track, which closes the record, ties all their crazy musical strands together to end on a high note.

It must be noted that this 10-inch vinyl record is out on Good To Die Records, which is becoming a go-to label for all that is loud in Seattle. This band could be considered the noisy, snotty upstarts to the label’s more seasoned roster of noiseniks.
