Michael Bay, who is producing the live-action reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (entitled Ninja Turtles), posted the following short message on his website today:

TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!

Variety later reported that Fox, who previously appeared in Michael Bay’s Transformers, will star as the reporter April O’Neil:

“Prior to the holidays, the studio began meeting with actresses such as Jane Levy, Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Olsen,” says Variety, “and the studio will now aim to find its male lead.” (via IGN)

A year ago, Bay created somewhat of an uproar when it was announced that he would be introducing “new turtle origins” in his reboot. Several months later, Paramount shut down production, delaying the estimated release date from December 2013 to May 2014.
