Moving away from the lengthier, faster tracks on previous albums, the music on Lemonade’s third release Diveris a bit mellower and relies heavily on repetitious loops and synthesizers. Callan Clendenin’s haunting voice is the driving factor on the album, and is the only bright light on an otherwise mediocre piece of work. When listening to Diver, not one song stands out and grabs the listener — in fact, there is not much distinction from song to song, as they all mesh into one long tune that never seems to end. I am not sure what Lemonade is striving for with their latest output, but all I hear is a band that would fit in nicely with some of the lesser-known groups from the ’80s. Reverting back to their former sound may be the way to go on future releases — at least on those they had a distinctive sound they could call their own.
