Warped Tour

An immense heat wave in the Southwest didn’t keep spectators from showing up for the 2013 Warped Tour in Las Vegas, Nevada, held at the Silverton Casino on June 28, 2013. Unfortunately, according to Fox 5, “206 attendees of the Vans Warped Tour at the Silverton hotel-casino had to be treated for heat-related injuries on Friday afternoon. Among the attendees, 34 people had to be hospitalized.”

Temperatures soared to a high of 117 degrees during the outdoor music festival — and furthermore, the event was held on a blacktop parking lot surface, which can add more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Yet even without these nearly record temperatures, the average temperature in Las Vegas on June 28th is 99 degrees.

Gosh, it’s just too bad there aren’t any indoor music venues or convention halls in Las Vegas so that planners could have taken preventative steps to eliminate severe safety risks at an event that draws almost exclusively high school aged children.

Warped Tour, get your shit together.
