On December 30, 1993, Nirvana played what would be their final Los Angeles concert. Documentarian Dave Markey, who directed 1991: The Year Punk Broke, was in attendance and filmed some of the band’s set. Here you can watch them perform a trio of their songs, plus a bit of “On a Plain.” Kurt also dedicates “Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam” to actor River Phoenix, who had died just two months earlier of a drug overdose.
Recently, the town of Hoquiam, Washington, declared April 10th to be “Nirvana Day,” an annual event that will first take place the day Nirvana is inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame.
