Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith in "Clerks II"

It looks like the adventures of Dante and Randal are not quite finished yet. Via his Facebook page, Kevin Smith has announced that he is writing the script for Clerks III, and states that it “will be the best film I’ll ever make.”

Clerks, Smith’s debut film, was released in 1994. The big budget sequel was released in 2006 and starred Rosario Dawson, in addition to mainstays Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson — plus Jason Mewes and Smith himself as Jay and Silent Bob.

Smith’s full announcement follows:

THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It’s been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion…
CLERKS III will be the best film I’ll ever make.
