James Mercer and Modest Mouse’s Joe Plummer (who replaced Jesse Sandoval as the Shins’ drummer in 2009) recently unveiled a new song from The Shins, who will be recording a new album shortly. “We’re working on a new record and this is one of the songs that should be on there,” Mercer told the audience during his encore at a benefit concert for Portland’s Puddletown School last month.
