One thing you can be sure of when Ian MacKaye does an interview is that it will be long, thorough, and full of thoughtful responses. Since it has been awhile since we’ve done one here at Verbicide (here is our interview with Ian from 2002; here is the other from 2005), I thought our readers would appreciate seeing what Ian has to say in 2013.
As with anyone who does so many interviews, a lot of familiar ground is retread (explaining his take on straight edge as a movement, the misconceptions the public has about him, etc.), but he also discusses his take on sports, whether he could leave Washington, DC, and even opens up, albeit briefly, about his father’s role as a White House correspondent and ongoing involvement in the St. Stephens church. The interview is by Jeff Jetton and is accompanied by photos by Dakota Fine.
