As the fifth and final season of Hell On Wheels begins airing on AMC, the powerhouse that was the fourth season arrives on Blu-ray and DVD in August 2015. In fact, this season turns out to be the best season out of the entire series.

This season continued to focus on the westward expansion of the Union Pacific Railroad. Conflict between the government and businesses, ranchers, homesteaders and the railroad also arose, as all of those interests compete with one another for control of Cheyenne, Wyoming, the most important railroad hub in 1867, according to the show.

The new cast, and the epic send off of a few favorites are just a few reasons this season is a must-see event. But the real winner here is the hours of special features usually only reserved for major motion pictures. Episode featurettes are only the beginning. There is also a few Season four recaps, a Anson Mount Retrospective, Cheyenne Set Tour, and two separate on-set specials with Colm Meaney and Jake Weber.
