The weather is warming up, music festival season is ramping up, and we couldn’t be more excited. Last year we brought you coverage of The Governors Ball, one of the handful of New York City music festival trying to stake the claim as the premiere East Coast fests, and from the looks of things, The Governors Ball is truly in the lead.

Expanding from two days to three, The Governors Ball has a list of performers this year that appeals to all tastes. Kicking off on Friday June 7th on Randall’s Island, the festival opens with a grouping of up and coming artists including Dillion Francis, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and St. Lucia. Saturday the 8th houses the brilliantly eccentric works of artists such as Edwin Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Bloc Party, Beirut, Crystal Castles, Twin Shadow, Alt-J, Portugal the Man, and my personal favorite, Dinosaur Jr. Closing out the festival on the 9th is a slam-bang day of acts ranging from all styles of music. Nas, Pretty Lights, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, The xx, Feist, Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, Thievery Corporation and others will jam through the day, building up to three headliners; Guns ‘n Roses, Kings of Leon, and Kayne West. –Matthew Schuchman
