GATSBY’S AMERICAN DREAM – S/T

gatsbysamericandream-coverGatsby’s American Dream are a different kind of pop-punk band. They tend to stray away from the normal pop-punk sound — its tough to describe, but many songs don’t have a chorus, or any sing-along part. Singer Nic Newsham’s voice sounds a lot like all those Fallout Boy-core bands out there though, which bugs me because there are a million singers who sound the same. I do have to admit that I like the majority of the songs on this album, and I like the album better than the other GAD EP I have, In the land of lost monsters. If you come into this record expecting something predictable and easy to get into, you will be disappointed. It took me a couple of listens through before I started to get into it, and I am sure it will take you a little bit, too. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just different than most Fallout Boy-core bands. I totally invented the phrase “Fallout Boy-core.” Its gonna get super popular and it’s all because of me. I am kick ass. So is this CD.
