FRIENDS BY FIRE – Borneo

reviewed by Cheyenne Carter | Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Friends By Fire will make you want to sing along, tap your feet, and sway your body to the beat as they make you feel as though you have drifted back in time to the 1980s with their album Borneo.

The first song of the album, “What Beast Shall I become (Hugs Onstage)”, immediately catches the listener’s attention. The song starts off with a calm and relaxing feel, then builds up to a dance-like beat. However, that is not the only song that will grab your ears and have you moving your feet to the beat. “Magic Johnson” and “We Really Burn” both illustrate Friends By Fire’s different techniques unique instrumentation.

Brady Busselman, Steven Schmidt, and Jeff Hollander are without a doubt representing the Minneapolis music scene in a positive manner. Upon listening to Borneo for the first time, I can guarantee you that it won’t be your last.
